Wondering where you’ll get your golf fix during your travels to the Poconos? Whether you’re considering a public course or want to make sure your resort is equipped with one you can use bright and early each morning, Skytop Lodge’s golf course is the best in the area.
It doesn’t matter if you’re planning to spend a day or a week out on the green, just make sure you read our handy guide to Skytop’s golf course before booking your next round.
Here at Skytop Lodge, we’re all about the story. We’re incredibly proud of the fact that our establishment is almost a century old, and that golf was baked right into it from the start.
See, golfing isn’t a new pastime at Skytop. In fact, it was the very first part of the resort that its founders built. Founding friends John Stubbs, Frederic Smith, Earl Mayne and Sam Packer dreamed of a lovely escape from it all, nestled high in the mountains, where one could enjoy sweeping views and countryside vibes far from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Thus Skytop Lodge was born, and its golf course was right there alongside it. On what used to be farmland, blossomed 2,500 acres of pristine, gorgeous fairways. Now you can enjoy a round of golf while also basking in the beauty of America’s natural playground. Discover what those four friends knew: that with the right surroundings, you can let go of the world completely and simply sink into your love of the game.
Love golf? Well, so do we, and we have the award-winning 18-hole championship course to prove it. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, there’s something for you here.
Just getting started? No problem. We offer private lessons to teach you the basics or help you correct some aspects of your gameplay. They’re $85 for adults or $75 for youth per hour, or $45/$40 per half hour. Lessons on the course are available upon request.

What’s not to like?
Skytop Lodge has a driving range, chipping green and a putting green. If you need to put in a little practice, either with a teacher or on your own, feel free to make use of these facilities as well as the course. Just make sure to call and find out if Skytop is accepting walk-ons to both places ahead of time.
You’ve got golfing on the brain, and you’re jonesing to head to Skytop Lodge and scratch that itch. We couldn’t support that idea more. Before you leave, though, here are a few things to know:
Rates vary depending on when you come, whether it’s a weekend or a weekday, what time of day you play, what season you play in, how many holes you play, and whether or not you are a guest. You’re looking at between $35 and $95 per player, depending on your unique combination of factors.
Be sure to check if the course is open or not before you reserve your package. While you can reserve tee times even when the course is closed, you can only play between April 1st and November 30th (though this may change from year to year, so keep an eye on the website for any updates).
Everyone must have their own clubs; no sharing. If you don’t have your own, you can rent them at reasonable rates in the Pro Shop. No fivesomes are allowed on the course; four is the limit. No walking on the course before 3 PM.
Skytop requires collared shirts and soft-spike shoes to be worn on the course at all times. No jeans and no exceptions. You will be politely asked to change if you show up in anything but dress code-approved attire.
It is not necessary to book an advanced tee time, but it will certainly help you avoid the disappointment of showing up and having to wait around – or worse, head back home. Skytop’s course is popular and is also open to the public so it fills up quickly, especially on nice days.
Therefore, it’s always a good idea to book an advanced tee time, whether you’re staying at the lodge or not. Not only does this help us control the flow of traffic, but it also ensures the best experience for you and your crowd as well.
Overall, golfing at Skytop Lodge is an amazing time, so it’s no wonder the pros love doing it so much! If you’re interested in the same award-winning experience, we invite you to book a tee time or an entire vacation here at Skytop so we can show you how relaxation is done!
While you can pop down and visit Skytop’s fairways any time you like, it’s always more fun to stay right on-site. That way, you don’t have far to travel for a round of golf or to get back to your home away from home.
If you’re ready to learn more about dates and rates, feel free to check out our booking calendar. And of course, get in touch with us if you have questions or for help at any time. We can’t wait to see you on our award-winning golf course at Skytop this year!
