Discover the breathtaking Skytop Lodge, one of the premier luxury resorts in Pennsylvania, by biking our famous trails this summer. We offer cruiser bikes, mountain bikes and even bike trailers by Burley for those with young children, making it easier to explore more of Skytop while you are here.
While all of our trails rated easy or moderate are appropriate for mountain biking, today we’re highlighting our top two easy and top two moderate trails for biking at Skytop Lodge.
Top Two Easy Trails
- Lake Trail: This scenic trail along the shoreline of Skytop Lake is completely level, perfect for beginners, families or people who haven’t ridden a bike in a few years. The Lake Trail is one of the best trails at Skytop for waterfowl and colorful wildflower viewing.
- Trout Stream Trail: This trail actually has two separate paths that can be followed. The east fork trail is flat and accessible for strollers. The alternate path, following along the west shore of the Leavitt Branch, covers slightly rougher terrain. It is still easily traversed on a mountain bike. The breathtaking Indian Ladder Falls at the end of the trail and easy terrain make this our most popular trail at Skytop. Bikers should expect to share the trail with hikers of all ages and varying abilities.
Top Two Moderate Trails
- West Rim Trail: Nearly four miles around, the West Rim Trail takes guests to the Gazebo at Skytop. Perched at approximately 1,900 feet above sea level, the Gazebo offers stunning panoramic views of the Pocono Mountains. From this vantage point, you can see Camelback Mountain and the Delaware Water Gap in addition to Skytop Lodge and the lake. Along the trail, there are several varieties of oak trees as well as black birch, pignut hickory, sassafras and pitch pine. Since there are a few different routes to take to the trail, many guests prefer to approach the Gazebo from one direction and return the Lodge via another.
- Goose Pond Road and Trail: Goose Pond is located in a largely untamed area of the Skytop estate. There are two different approaches to the pond itself, each with its own scenery and distinct characteristics. The Goose Pond area includes bogs, tree-covered swamps, pitch pine forest and open waters, all beautiful in their own way. Exploring Goose Pond, even on a mountain bike, can easily be a full-day excursion when you take the time to immerse yourself in the serenity it offers. Since it is the wildest and most isolated area of Skytop, we ask guests to notify the Activities Staff before heading out.
